Holworthy Family Housing
43 Holworthy Street, in the Dorchester Neighborhood of Boston, is a three story six unit masonry building which had failing exterior materials. The exterior masonry surface was spalling and cracking, sills, lintels and cornice materials were broken and missing, windows were broken and allowing air infiltration and the roof was leaking. Working with the Boston Housing Authority and the Massachusetts Department of Housing and Community Development, Richard Alvord Architects provided exterior renovations to correct these severe problems.
Through an exhaustive survey of existing building components, code review and meticulous product research, Richard Alvord Architects provided cost effective and detailed renovation documents that which resulted in an aesthetically pleasing, structurally sound and weather resistant exterior. We provided four distinctly different solutions for the exterior renovation as well as a detailed cost estimate and then worked with BHA and DHCD to arrive at a solution that met all parties needs.
